Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An architectural design of 16-storey apartment block, the first tallest building of Mongolia, is being kept in the Central Museum of Darkhan-Uul aimag. The original architectural design was made in 1980 by former general architect of Darkhan city O.Jargalsaikhan.

Designing of the 172-household apartment building to be shaped like ray by having three aisles enabled all families to enjoy sunlight during certain times of the day. The apartment also has double elevators for passengers and to carry loads in avoidance of causing over-crowd. It was also built with an integrated fire-escape ladder designated to be used in emergency case.

Upper technical layer of the apartment was designed to have a large hall with glassy windows and spacious balconies to three directions to provide residents and visitors with opportunities to stay convenient and to view Darkhan city as a whole. This was a new idea and solution as written in the history.

The blueprint of the apartment block, built in industrial city of Darkhan, which was established under friendship of brother countries, was sent and developed in Architecture Design Institute of Armenia and the apartment block was commissioned on December 31 of 1985. The apartment was consideredthe tallest building in Mongolia until the arrival of the 21st century. One who visits the Museum of Darkhan city is available to see the original architectural design model of the apartment block that has over 500 residents of 172 families.
