PPE and N95 face masks worth about USD 5,000 presented to Ministry of Health

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On May 4, personal protective equipment (PPE) and N95 masks worth USD 4,976 were presented to the Ministry of Health in the framework of the ‘Building the Capacity for COVID-19 Diagnosis and Service Delivery for the Most Vulnerable in Mongolia amidst the Pandemic’ project being implemented by UNFPA, Rio Tinto’s Country Office in Mongolia, and Oyu Tolgoi LLC. 

 

Highlighting that the PPE and face masks will be used by frontline medical workers, State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Ts.Erdembileg expressed gratitude to UNFPA, Rio Tinto, and Oyu Tolgoi for the donation. The ceremony was attended by State Secretary of the Ministry of Health Ts.Erdembileg, Programme Specialist of UNFPA Mongolia B.Shinetugs, Principal Advisor for Media and Communication at Rio Tinto Mongolia E.Narantungalag. 


With a financing of MNT 1.7 billion, the project has been implemented in Mongolia since October 2020. In the framework of the project, fully equipped PCR laboratories have been established at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the State Central Second Hospital, the Zamiin-Uud General Hospital, and the Regional Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Umnugobi aimag. Furthermore, about 100 packages of primary healthcare toolkits were also presented, which enables specialized doctors to connect with citizens in rural areas.
