Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Meets Russian Prime Minister
PoliticsBishkek, October 30, 2023 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai met with the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin in Bishkek on October 26, 2023.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene underscored Mongolia's commitment to maintaining friendly relations with the Russian Federation and emphasized the importance of extensive cooperation as a good neighbor. He expressed satisfaction with the regularizing frequency of high-level visits and meetings, highlighting the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Furthermore, Prime Minister L. Oyun-Erdene stressed the significance of strengthening the ties and trust between Mongolia and Russia through concrete economic cooperation projects and programs. He proposed continued cooperation in areas such as agricultural product exports to Russia, the establishment of cross-border free trade zones, a consistent and reliable supply of gasoline from Russia to Mongolia, and the promotion of humanitarian exchanges encompassing education and culture.
Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin of the Russian Federation acknowledged the Strategic Partnership between Mongolia and Russia and a rich history of friendly relations between the two countries. He said that the people of the two countries had been together throughout challenging historical periods and years of significant development. Prime Minister Mishustin affirmed his readiness to collaborate in various areas, including trade, finance, infrastructure, energy, and education, by launching specific projects.
The two Heads of Government highlighted the importance of the recent meeting between the President of Mongolia, U. Khurelsukh, and the President of the Russian Federation, V. V. Putin, held in Beijing, during which the two Presidents discussed critical issues related to the bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries. They also commended the successful 25th Regular Meeting of the Mongolian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for trade, economic, and technical cooperation, which took place in Ulaanbaatar on October 23-24, 2023.
Additionally, the two sides agreed to intensify the implementation of major strategic projects encompassing the three-nation economic corridor involving Mongolia, Russia, and China. These projects include the modernization of Mongolia's central axis railway, the development of new east and west axis railways, the construction of the Altanbulag-Zamyn-Uud highway, and the route from Russia through Mongolia for supplying natural gas to China.
To commemorate the 85th anniversary of the joint victory at the Khalkhin Gol River, a symbol of Mongolian-Russian friendship, the two parties agreed to hold a solemn ceremony in 2024.
