Mongolia Expands Cooperation with the Nature Conservancy
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, December 3, 2023 /MONTSAME. Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa met
Jennifer Morris, Chief Executive Officer of the Nature Conservancy during the
high-level Conference on Climate Change – COP 28 in Dubai, the United Arab
Emirates (UAE) from November 30 - to December 12, 2023.
President U. Khurelsukh expressed
satisfaction with the Nature Conservancy on close cooperation with Mongolian
public and private organizations on active work in ecology, quality evaluation of
desert and steppe ecological regions and research to determine the areas that
need protection, implementation of projects and programs, providing
professional advice and assistance.
Ms. Jennifer Morris expressed support for
the Mongolian President's environmental policies and political leadership and expressed interest in expanding the scope of cooperation between the two
countries.
The Nature Conservancy is a leading
conservation organization working in 74 countries around the world to combat
climate change, protect lands and waters, ensure sustainable food and water
consumption, and build healthy cities.
The Nature Conservancy began working in Mongolia in 2008 with the goal of protecting 30 percent of the grasslands by 2030. It cooperates with state, private, and civil society organizations to fulfill these goals.
