Cargo Transport Increased by 17.5 Percent

Ulaanbaatar, August 9, 2024 /MONTSAME/. In July 2024, the total amount of cargo transported countrywide by all types of transportation was 10.8 million tons, an increase of 17.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
Road transportation: The total amount of cargo transported by road in July 2024 was 7.3 million tons, an increase of 20.6 percent compared to July 2023. Of this, 7.1 million tons of cargo transport was for export (+ 21%), while 222.9 thousand tons was for import (+10.1%).
Railway transportation: The total amount of cargo transported by railway in July 2024 was 3.4 million tons, an increase of 11.3 percent compared to July 2023.
Air transportation: The total amount of cargo and mail transported by air in July 2024 was 925.5 tons, an increase of 59.4 percent compared to July 2023.
In July 2024, cargo transport for export was 8.1 million tons (+20%), while cargo transport for import was 580.9 thousand tons (+6.9%).
