Prime Ministers of Mongolia and Japan Hold Phone Conversation
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, August 13, 2024 /MONTSAME/. At the request of the Japanese side, Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai held a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida on August 13, 2024.
At the beginning of the conversation, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida explained the circumstances surrounding the cancellation of his planned official visit to Mongolia, which was scheduled for August 11-12, 2024, at the invitation of Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai. Prime Minister of Japan noted that the visit was canceled due to the need to implement disaster response measures following the earthquake that occurred in Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan, on August 8. Prime Minister Kishida expressed his sincere gratitude to the Mongolian side for preparing for the visit and conveyed his regret that the official visit could not take place at this time. The Premier also emphasized his commitment to pursuing the visit in the future, taking into account the prevailing circumstances.
Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai expressed understanding and acceptance of the situation that led to the cancellation of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s official visit to Mongolia, due to the internal circumstances related to the earthquake in Japan. The Premier emphasized that the Government of Mongolia and the people of Mongolia, sharing common values, are in solidarity with Japan, an important "Third Neighbor" and a Special Strategic Partner, and with the Japanese people, friends at this time.
The two sides noted that the relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Japan, based on common values of human rights, freedom, and democracy, are deepening at a high level of the Special Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in all areas. The Prime Ministers discussed further strengthening political trust, intensifying dialogue and mutual visits at all levels, and expanding mutually beneficial economic cooperation and affirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation at regional and international platforms.
As 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of cultural relations between Mongolia and Japan, the two parties expressed appreciation that the People-Centered relations and cooperation between the two countries have been further strengthening and also expressed their intention to involve young people more in the relations, expand exchanges between the peoples, and strengthen friendship and cooperation.
