Prime Minister of Mongolia Receives President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
PoliticsUlaanbaatar, October 8, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister of Mongolia Oyun-Erdene Luvsannamsrai held a meeting with President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Odile Renaud-Basso, to exchange views on cooperation on October 7, 2024.
The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to the EBRD for its significant contribution to the development of Mongolia’s private sector, which has become one of the supporting pillars of the country’s economy over the past 18 years since the EBRD began cooperation with Mongolia.
Premier also highlighted that the EBRD has provided a total of EUR 2.3 billion in loans and investments for over 140 projects in Mongolia, playing a key role in diversifying the private sector. The Prime Minister further noted that the Joint Government has incorporated 14 mega infrastructure development projects into the 2024-2028 Action Program, aimed at ensuring stable economic growth. Most of these projects are expected to be implemented in the mining, energy, and infrastructure sectors. Prime Minister Oyun-Erdene emphasized the importance of the EBRD’s experience and support in implementing energy reform and projects on renewable energy, green transition, satellite cities, infrastructure issues, and improving the investment environment of Mongolia.
President of the EBRD Odile Renaud-Basso expressed her appreciation for the meeting with the Prime Minister of Mongolia and praised the country’s rapid economic growth in recent years. Mrs. Odile Renaud-Basso also conveyed the Bank’s interest in collaborating on projects in the healthcare and energy sectors, particularly in renewable energy projects and improving the banking and financial environment.
