Mongolia Exported 5.4 Million Tons of Coal in September of this Year
EconomyUlaanbaatar, October 10, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia has set a target to export 78.1 million tons of coal in 2024.
As of the first nine months of 2024, Mongolia has exported 59.1 million tons of coal worth USD 6.6 billion, a 26.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Bituminous coal made up 56.5 percent of the total exports during this reporting period. In September alone, 5.4 million tons of coal was exported, amounting to USD 527.1 million. Mongolia has achieved over 70 percent of its annual coal export target in the first nine months.
To meet the coal export target, Mongolia plans to continue developing railway ports and complete the cross-border connection at the Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod port, which will increase coal export capacity by 30-50 million tons per year. The Ministry of Finance has estimated that the total export revenue could reach USD 16.7 billion by the end of the year.
