The Number of Passengers Choosing MIAT Mongolian Airlines Increased by 50 Percent

Ulaanbaatar, October 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Within the framework of the “Year to Visit Mongolia” announced by the Government of Mongolia, Mongolia’s Flag Carrier, MIAT Airlines, has been organizing a series of initiatives in recent years to increase passenger traffic and expand cargo transportation and transit markets connecting Asia and Europe. As a result, the number of passengers flying with MIAT Airlines has increased significantly compared to the period before the COVID-19 global pandemic. For instance, of the 1.7 million passengers coming to Mongolia, 902 thousand, or more than 50 percent, chose MIAT for their flights. Also, MIAT Airlines served 4000 transit passengers in 2019, a year before COVID-19, while in 2023, this number increased to 14.600.
MIAT Mongolian Airlines transported 12000 transit passengers as of September 2024, which is a 50 percent increase compared to the same period last year. MIAT JSC is expanding its international cooperation and plans to introduce new flights to Bangkok, Phuket, and Ho Chi Minh City in its winter flight schedule. This is expected to further increase winter tourism and transit traffic.
