Ulaanbaatar, February 18, 2026 /MONTSAME/. On the first day of the Lunar New Year of the XVII Sexagenary Cycle, the Year of the Fire Horse titled “Sureer Daragch,” President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, Chairman of the State Great Khural Uchral Nyam-Osor, and Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav paid tribute at the Golden Statue of Great Chinggis Khaan.
At the initiative of President Khurelsukh, the Golden Statue of Chinggis Khaan, the State Great White Banner, and the Khasbuu Seal were created and enshrined in their designated hall at the Chinggis Khaan National Museum on an auspicious spring day of the first lunar month in the Year of the Snake of the XVII Sexagenary Cycle, titled “Eldev Erdenet.”
The Golden Statue immortalizes a historic moment when Great Chinggis Khaan installed the Golden Seal, proclaimed the establishment of the Great Mongol Empire to the people, and presented the newly engraved royal seal to those assembled, reading aloud the decree inscribed upon it and offering the jade seal to the Khan, as recorded in historical sources.
The seal, bearing the inscription, “By the power of Eternal Heaven, the decree of the Dalai Khaan of the Great Mongol State shall reach the people; let them revere and fear it,” and featuring a lion-shaped handle, symbolizes the statehood of the Great Mongol Empire. It signifies that the deeds of Great Chinggis Khaan and the Great Mongol Empire he founded shall be eternally honored and remembered, and that the Mongolian state, inherited from the ancestors, shall endure forever. To the right of the Khaan stands the Great White Banner, symbolizing the peace and stability of the Mongolian nation and state.
Beginning this year, it has become a tradition for state leaders to pay tribute at the shrine of Great Chinggis Khaan on the first day of Tsagaan Sar.
