‘Mirage’ media art festival to be presented virtually

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On June 10, the Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) issued a press release on the 2020 edition of the Ulaanbaatar International Media Art Festival (UBIMAF). 


It says “COVID-19 pandemic outbreak is reshaping our society in lasting ways. In many areas arts and culture take up online outreach. So does Ulaanbaatar International Media Art Festival. This festival that aims to bring international expertise to enhance visual and media arts education to Mongolia has been re-arranged and enriched with the program more towards online collaboration and virtual presentation.”


“ACM in partnership with Goethe-Institute Mongolia and Todays Art Festival, with the support of the White Rock Center, is presenting UBIMAF 2020 under the theme of ‘Mirage’ - an illusion that seems real.  As time goes by the current reality shall fade away as an illusion, a mirage.”


UBIMAF 2020 virtual event features four special contents including three international co-creations. International co-creations, include German & Mongolian joint ‘Mirage’ media art piece by 360 ͦ dome projection for the first time in Mongolia; “Labyrinth” a co-creation by Dutch & Mongolian joint video, media, light installation; American & Mongolian joint sound composition.


Also, Art See Talk series and “Challenges & Benefits of Creating Online Contents” panel discussion will be organized during the festival dated on June 18 – July 8, 2020.
