Mongolia-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue Held for the First Time

Ulaanbaatar, July 24, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The first Mongolia-U.S. Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue was held in Washington D.C., the United States, on July 23, 2024.

 

At the Dialogue, the Mongolian side was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh, while the U.S. side was headed by Deputy Secretary of State Kurt M. Campbell, with attendance of around 40 representatives from six organizations from the two parties. 


This Dialogue marks the introduction of a Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue mechanism between Mongolia and the United States since the two countries reached a Strategic Third Neighbor Partnership. 


During the Dialogue, the two sides held seven themed sessions on mutual interests and exchanged views on deepening the relations and cooperation between Mongolia and the United States in politics, defense, trade, education, and culture sectors, developing humanitarian relations, and people-to-people ties under the Strategic Third Neighbor Partnership between the two countries, and also on expanding economic and development cooperation in critical minerals, energy, air transportation, space exploration, and digital development fields.


The two sides affirmed their commitment to strengthening active cooperation and mutual support on a regional and international stage and consolidating multilateral cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations and for peacekeeping.
