Ulaanbaatar, January 16, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Prime Minister Zandanshatar Gombojav met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation, Evsikov Alexey Nikolaevich, on January 14 to exchange views on some issues related to bilateral relations and cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prime Minister Zandanshatar expressed his appreciation to Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin for extending New Year greetings and asked the ambassador to convey his return greetings in response.

He also exchanged views with the Ambassador on several major events planned for implementation in 2026. Noting that Mongolia-Russia relations and cooperation developed actively in 2025, with numerous successful high-level mutual visits and events, the PM stressed the importance of turning agreed-upon issues into tangible outcomes.

The PM expressed appreciation for the ratification by both the Mongolian and Russian sides of the Interim Trade Agreement between Mongolia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), noting his expectation that the agreement will be ratified by the other EAEU member states in the near future.

He said he is confident that the successful implementation of the Interim Trade Agreement will not only boost trade and economic cooperation but also serve as an important driver for expanding people-to-people exchanges.

He also expressed satisfaction with the broad range of agreements reached during the meeting of the Mongolia–Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation, held in Ulaanbaatar in late December last year. These agreements include increasing the supply of petroleum products to Mongolia and ensuring their reliable and stable delivery in the future, as well as continuing the supply of electricity to Mongolia’s western region.

Ambassador Evsikov expressed his commitment to work actively to implement agreements reached during the high-level meetings, and said that numerous events in the fields of culture, sports, and humanitarian cooperation will be co-organized to jointly mark the 105th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Mongolia in 2026.
