Ulaanbaatar, January 22, 2026 /MONTSAME/. The Capital City Tourism Department, in cooperation with Sky Resort LLC, will organize the “Ulaanbaatar Winter Festival 2026” from January 31 to February 1 at the Sky Resort ski complex.
Now in its 14th year, the event aims to develop special-interest tourism, extend the tourist season, increase the number of visitors during the winter months, and encourage citizens to spend their leisure time in a healthy and meaningful way. The festival also seeks to promote customs, traditions, and unique cultural heritage, while supporting winter extreme sports and adventure tourism.
During the festival, organizers plan to hold an international ice archery championship, a national ice ankle-bone shooting championship, and Ulaanbaatar city championships in snowboarding, paragliding, snow rugby, alpine skiing, and curling. In addition, amateur and family relay competitions in ice wall climbing, tug-of-war events, and a “Grand Tour” competition among tourism sector students will be organized.
The program will also feature paragliding demonstrations, Mongolian bankhar dog and falconry performances, food services, ski and sled rentals, and artistic performances for visitors.
More than 1,000 athletes from Ulaanbaatar and all 21 aimags are expected to participate. In addition, over 50 athletes from the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Buryatia, the Republic of Kalmykia, and the Republic of Tuva of the Russian Federation, as well as from the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States of America, have registered to take part in the festival.
