Ts.Monkhzaya wins third medal in Judo World Championships
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ An international master of sport and Asian champion Ts.Monkhzaya Thursday grabbed a bronze medal in the Judo World Championships, continuing in Astana, Kazakhstan.
Competed in the women’s -63 kg division, Monkhzaya had a bye in the first round, and beat her opponents of Cuba and China, in the quarter finals and semi-finals at the “A” pool, respectively.
In the finals of the pool, she was defeated by a Slovenian judoka Tina Trstenjak. In the repechage round, our judoka beat Croatian and Israeli judokas, winning the bronze medal.
This is the third medal for Mongolia at the 2015 Judo World Championships. On the third day of the tournament, D.Sumya (women’s 57 kg) and E.Nyam-Ochir (men’s 73 kg) captured bronze medals.
As of present, the national team of Mongolia is ranked 9th place among 14 countries that won medals at the competitions. The Japan’s team is leading the championships, having four gold, two silver and three bronze medals.
