Pupils now have access to convenient dormitory and drinkable water

Sukhbaatar /MONTSAME/ With an initiative of Asgat state school director M.Urantuya and financial support of ASIA Mongolia NGO, the dormitory of the school in Sukhbaatar aimag has been renovated as well as water filter has been installed, making sure pupils drink pure water.
The dormitory was built in 2008 with a budget of MNT 145 million but there was not any renovation since then. The rooftop and interior design of the dormitory had worsened a lot.
ASIA Mongolia NGO which is originally from Italy, started its operation in Mongolia in 2016. In the same year, the NGO did a research on what significant issues are needed to be addressed. The first project was about supporting herders who suffered from dzud in Sukhbaatar aimag.
“After hearing about this organization, I made an official request for the renovation of the dormitory and about drinking water. Since then, our cooperation has begun. In 2018, they officially approved our request and the renovation work started last July. The renovation work of over MNT 170 million has been finished now.
For the water, our school has a well but magnesium amount in the water was more than it should have been. We had our drinking water from town well and we used the school water for other usage instead. Thankfully, through this project, school kitchen has been expanded and the water filter has been installed with MNT 57 million budget. Now, pupils, teachers and staff at school have access to drinkable water. This had been our school’s wish since long time ago. We also would like to thank Solarmed Mongolia LLC, the executor company, for working effortlessly and finishing the work successfully,” said the school director.
Head of Culture and Education Centre of Sukhbaatar aimag Ms. Baigalmaa extended her gratitude towards ASIA Mongolia and both sides are looking forward to working on more projects.
In addition, last August, the organization made another assessment in other soums in Sukhbaatar aimag.
