Sales of industrial production reach MNT 20.1 trillion in 2019

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. By preliminary results of 2019, the gross industrial output reached MNT 17.4 trillion, showing an increase of MNT 1.8 trillion (11.2%) from the previous year. This increase was mainly due to mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 1.2 trillion (11.1%), manufacturing gross output by MNT 351.8 billion (10.5%) and electricity, thermal energy and water supply gross output by MNT 156.5 billion (15.0%).


In December 2019, the gross industrial output reached MNT 1.2 trillion, decreased by MNT 277.3 billion (18.6%) compared to the previous month. This decrease was mainly due to an decrease of mining and quarrying gross output by MNT 265.7 billion (25.7%) and manufacturing gross output by MNT 19.8 billion (5.9%). Of the gross industrial output, 71.8% was mining and quarrying sector, 21.3% was manufacturing sector and 6.9% was electricity, thermal energy and water supply sector.


By preliminary results of 2019, the mining and quarrying gross output reached MNT 12.5 trillion, showing an increase of MNT 1.2 trillion (11.1%) from the previous year. This increase was mainly due to increase in mining of coal and lignite by MNT 1.1 trillion (28.6%), extraction of crude petroleum by MNT 28.5 billion (2.9%), mining of metal ores by MNT 50.4 billion (0.8%) and other mining and quarrying by MNT 15.2 billion (11.1%).


In December 2019, the mining and quarrying gross output reached MNT 769.4 billion, decreased by MNT 265.7 billion (25.7%) compared to the previous month. This decrease was mainly due to decrease in of mining of coal and lignite gross output by MNT 200.6 billion (51.6%) and mining of metal ores gross output by MNT 70.8 billion (12.9%).


Of the mining and quarrying gross output, 49.1% was mining of metal ores, 41.4% was mining and quarrying, 8.2% was extraction of crude petroleum and 1.2% was other mining and quarrying.


By preliminary results of 2019, in mining and quarrying sector, extraction of hard coal, crude oil, iron ore and fluorspar are increased by 2.5-54.3% compared to the previous year. In manufacturing sector, production of milk, pure water, soft drink, juice, cement, cashmere products, lime and coal briquette are increased from 5.7% to 108.6 times more.


On the other hand, in mining and quarrying sector, extraction of copper concentrate, brown coal and gold are decreased by 3.7-21.3%. In manufacturing sector, productions of wheat flour, alcoholic beverage, metal steel, concentrated coal, metal foundries, cigarettes, copper cathode, meat and combed cashmere are decreased by 1.0-33.3% compared to the previous year.


In December 2019, the seasonally adjusted industrial production index was 144.6 (2010=100), decreased by 21.1% from the same period of previous year and by 15.1% from the previous month.


By preliminary results of 2019, the sales of industrial production reached MNT 20.1 trillion, increased by MNT 1.8 trillion (9.8%) from the previous year. This increase was mainly resulted from increase of MNT 970.6 billion (7.7%) in sales of mining and quarrying, MNT 660.7 billion (14.5%) in sales of manufacturing and MNT 158.0 billion (15.1%) in sales of electricity, thermal energy and water supply.


From the total sales of industrial production, MNT 13.6 trillion (67.6%) were export, of which export of mining and quarrying was MNT 11.3 trillion (83.4%) and export of manufacturing was MNT 2.3 trillion (16.6%).


The sales of mining and quarrying production was increased by MNT 970.6 billion (7.7%) from the previous year. This increase was mainly resulted from increase of MNT 800.4 billion (19.0%) in sales of coal mining, MNT 10.5 billion (1.1%) in sales of extraction of crude oil, MNT 106.4 billion (1.4%) in sales of mining of metal ores and MNT 53.3 billion (37.5%) in sales of other mining and quarrying.


From the sales of mining and quarrying production, MNT 11.3 trillion (82.9%) were export, of which 49.9% was mining of metal ores, 40.4% was mining of coal and lignite, 8.6% was extraction of crude petroleum, 1.1% was other mining and quarrying.


Of total sales of industrial production, 58.8% was in Ulaanbaatar, 17.9% was in Umnugovi, 11.0% was in Orkhon, 2.6% was in Selenge, 1.6% was in Darkhan-Uul, 1.6% was in Khovd, 1.5% was in Dornogovi, 1.3% was in Sukhbaatar, 1.1% was in Zavkhan and 2.6% was in other aimags.
