Mongolia to Propose Three Initiatives at COP17

Ulaanbaatar, November 18, 2025 /MONTSAME/. As part of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), a high-level event titled “From Talk to Action: Making COP30 a Turning Point for Synergistic Climate-Nature Action" was held on November 17, 2025, in the German Pavilion, Belem, Brazil.

 

Minister of Environment and Climate Change of Mongolia, Batbaatar Bat, participated in the session, presenting plans and policy guidelines to address Mongolia’s complex environmental issues, including climate change, biodiversity, and land degradation, through cohesive action. During the session, Mongolia announced that it will propose three significant initiatives during COP17.

 

Minister Batbaatar stated that during the 17th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) to be held in Ulaanbaatar in 2026, Mongolia will propose three infrastructural initiatives: Pastureland Leadership Initiative, Integrated Water-Land Management, and Nature-Based Infrastructure Solutions.

 

The Minister emphasized that these initiatives aim to strengthen the connection between land, climate, and biodiversity and to scale up integrated landscape restoration solutions globally.
