Mongolian Boxers Secure Medals at World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, May 11, 2023/MONTSAME/. The IBA Men’s World Boxing Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, has been thrilling so far, with 538 boxers from 107 countries vying for the top spot. The Championships began on April 30 and will run until May 14, 2023. 


One standout performer has been Chinzorig Baatarsukh from Mongolia, who secured a bronze medal in the 63.5 kg category. Chinzorig outclassed three-time World Champion Lazaro Alvarez to earn his place in the semi-finals, where he will face off against Bakhodur Usmonov on May 12.  


Another boxer who has impressed at the championship is Mongolia’s Misheelt Battumur, the Bronze Medalist of the Asian Championship. Misheelt sealed a bronze medal after triumphing over Venezuelan boxer Christian Palacios in the welterweight division (–67 kg). Now, he can change the color of his bronze medal when he takes on Asadhuja Muidinhujaev of the host country in the semi-final.
