Draft Law on Mitigating Challenges and Risks in Livestock Husbandry to be Developed
On March 20, 2024, during a regular session of the Cabinet of Mongolia, D. Amarbayasgalan, Minister of Mongolia and Head of the Cabinet Secretariat, and Kh. Bolorchuluun, Minister of Food, Agriculture, and Light Industry of Mongolia, were tasked with developing a draft Law on Mitigating the Negative Impacts of Climate Change on Traditional Livestock Husbandry and a draft Plan of Measures to Ensure the Sustainable Development of Livestock Production and submitting them to the Cabinet.

Domestic Reserves to be Increased with Mutton and Beef Prepared for Export
Ulaanbaatar, March 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. At the regular session of the Cabinet on March 20, 2024, a working group responsible for increasing the supply of meat prepared to meet the food needs of Ulaanbaatar’s population during the spring season and prevent price inflation made a presentation.In connection with the presentation, the relevant individuals were tasked with studying and addressing the possibility of increasing domestic meat reserves by a certain percentage from mutton and beef prepared for international export by private sector entities and enterprises.

Amendments Made to the Regulations for Granting Child Monetary Allowances
Ulaanbaatar, March 21, 2024 /MONTSAME/. At the regular session of the Cabinet on March 20, 2024, amendments were made to the regulations for granting child monetary allowances.For each child under the age of 14 living in a specialized orphanage, the orphanage will open an account and deposit the child's money in the bank. However, for each child aged 14 and older, a current account will be opened. In this account, 80 percent of the child's money will be deposited in the bank, while the remaining 20 percent will be managed by the child. Additionally, this account will be equipped with an electronic card.

Choijilsuren presented to the Cabinet session presented the results of negotiations with the project investor on comprehensively addressing issues regarding the construction of the Buuruljuut 300 MW power plant and a new 220 kW overhead transmission line of Buuruljuut-Sergelen within the framework of the Baganuur-Buuruljuut 200 kW overhead power line project by making amendments to the Power Sale and Purchase Agreement.

Mongolian Government Issues Resolution for PISA-2022 Assessment Measures
Ulaanbaatar, March 7, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Government of Mongolia has issued a resolution outlining measures to be implemented based on the results and policy recommendations of the international PISA-2022 evaluation of students' academic achievement. As the resolution is approved and implemented, officials anticipate meeting the following conditions:- Organizing education quality assessments at all levels using internationally recognized methods and preparing for the 2025 PISA assessment.- Implementing measures to improve the native language and basic reading skills of kindergarten and general education students.- Providing necessary school infrastructure, learning environments, materials, and electronic equipment. - Collaborating on measures to reduce educational disparities between urban and rural areas and different socio-economic groups.

50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations Between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand
Ulaanbaatar, March 6, 2024 /MONTSAME/. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Kingdom of Thailand. On the occasion of this historic anniversary, congratulatory letters were exchanged between the Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries. President of Mongolia Khurelsukh Ukhnaa noted in his letter that friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries have been developing steadily for half a century and have been deeply strengthened in the international and regional arena, and he expressed the hope that the relations and cooperation with our important partner in Southeast Asia, the Kingdom of Thailand, will be further strengthened in the next 50 years. In his letter, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand Srettha Thavisin pointed out that the relations and cooperation between Thailand and Mongolia have expanded and developed at all levels not only bilaterally but also internationally over the past 50 years.
