19 meter tall Maitreya Statue unveiled

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Ceremony was held for unveiling the statue of Maitreya Buddha at the Zuun Khuree Dashchoilin Monastery on July 1.
The Maitreya project on reconstructing the Khuree Maitreya statue along its temple was officially rolled out in 2005. It was planned to build a complex for religious, cultural and public events with traditional architectural design in combination with modern styles.
The 19 meter tall Maitreya Statue was created as sculptor N.Orgil’s designed, with embossed copper by Chinese, Tibetan and Nepalese craftsmen since 2010 in Chengdu, China. The temple was designed by D.Baldan, architect of the Baldan’s LLC, and G.Nyamtsogt, architect of the Suld Project LLC.
The first Khuree Maitreya created in 1834-1837 was about seven fathoms tall. It was destroyed during the Great repressions in 1942-1943.
