First International Ballet Competition in Mongolia

Under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sports, the First International Ballet competition kicked off in Ulaanbaatar. The competition is initiated by the Mongolian Ballet Development Foundation.

In this competition, some 80 children and youth from seven countries are competing in three age categories. The panel of judges includes Hero of Labor of Mongolia, People’s Artist and State Prize Laureate B.Jamiyandagva and other famous international judges from China, Russian, Japan, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Singapore and Germany.

Founder of the Mongolian Ballet Development Foundation and State Honored Artists D.Altankhuyag highlighted that ballet competition is a comprehensive training, development and exchange of experience for participants. It is significant for participants to show off their skills to big world dance companies and open opportunity for them to receive offer to work for those companies in the future.

The International Ballet Competition will be organized biennially in Mongolia.

Winner of Grand-Prix will receive a cash prize of USD 4250, gold medalist – USD 1500, silver medalist – USD 1000 and bronze medalist – USD 800.

Moreover, the winners will participate in international ballet competitions to be held in the Republic of Korea in late June and in Shanghai, the People’s Republic of China in August.

A gala concert of the First International Ballet Festival will take place on June 1 in the State Theatre of Opera and Ballet.
