‘Gobi Wolf-2018’ international exercise starts

On June 4, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) U.Enkhtuvshin opened an international exercise ‘Gobi Wolf-2018, being co-organized in Khovd aimag by the NEMA of Mongolia, Embassy of the United States in Mongolia and United States Pacific Command.

The seventh edition of the exercise brought together over 650 participants from Mongolia, the USA, international organizations and embassies of the French Republic, Sri Lanka, UK, Canada, S.Korea, Australia, Japan, Thailand and Nepal to Mongolia.

In his opening speech, Mr.Enkhtuvshin expressed his gratitude for expanding scope of the international exercise and growing numbers of participants, foreign countries and international organizations. The ‘Gobi Wolf’ exercise is essential for improving readiness in response to natural disaster, disaster protection plan, integrating the forces of public services and specialized units and providing effective disaster preparedness of the country, highlighted Mr.Enkhtuvshin.

During the exercise, running under the theme ‘Organizing regional management and interaction’, rescuers from Mongolia and the United States are sharing experiences and organizing a comprehensive training on conducting search-rescue operations in fast river current and mountain bumps with help of seeker dogs and giving health-care services to disaster victims.

Moreover, the workshop and training will be organized on ensuring women’s leadership and involvement and promoting the collaboration in times of disaster and emergency.
