Low cost electric home heating devices introduced

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On January 15, national scientists presented their newly invented heat accumulator and thermal storage stove at the discussion themed ‘Opportunities for home heating using night tariff’ organized by the ‘Erdem’ club of the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAC).
Academicians S.Batmunkh and S.Bayannasan presented the first version of ‘Ilch-2.0’ heat accumulator made by the scholars of Thermal Engineering and Industrial Ecology Institute at the University of Science and Technology, which converts electrical energy to heat energy during the night hours and heats up the house during the day time. CEO of Monwatt LLC T.Purevdorj also introduced the block stove that reserves the heat energy during the night, noting ‘We have been testing our product for 3-4 years. Currently, over 300 households in ger districts use our thermal storage stove and they are ready to be widely used. The Ministry of Energy is creating condition for 42 thousand households in the capital to use 4 kWt heaters. Devices engineered by national scientists need to be used widely.’
The scholars emphasized that the heat energy spent on home heating can be reduced by twice or more. During the discussion, the participants submitted recommendations on ensuring the involvement of scientists in air and environment pollution reduction actions to the Government.
