Chinese Foreign Minister pays courtesy call on Mongolian President

State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, who is on an official visit to Mongolia, paid a courtesy call on President of Mongolia, H.E. Mr. Khaltmaagiin Battulga.


Due to the current regimen of heightened level of emergency preparedness in place to avoid contamination of COVID-19, the meeting took place under high-class precautionary setting. To be specific, the delegations were seated in distance of three meters from each other, prior to the meeting.


Commencing the meeting, President Khaltmaagiin Battulga underlined that the visit of Mr. Wang Yi, a State Councilor and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China during the global pandemic maintains the frequency of uninterrupted high-level exchanges between the two countries, and manifests consolidation of the Comprehensive Partnership established between Mongolia and the People’s Republic of China. The President of Mongolia asked the Chinese FM to convey his regards to Mr. Xi Jinping, the Chairman of PRC.


President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga paid a visit to China on February 27th, 2020, and met Mr. Xi Jinping, head of state of PRC, and Mr. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of PRC. During his visit, President Battulga disclosed that 30 thousand sheep was being donated as an expression of empathy of the Mongolian people to the Chinese people who are going through a difficult time. Henceforth, the preparation is underway to hand over the 30 thousand sheep to the Chinese side.


During today’s meeting, the sides exchanged views on possibilities to enrich the contents of bilateral trade, to increase the trade turnover to 10 billion US dollars, and to make ambitious steps toward more substantial upgrade in bilateral trade volume, as well as to broaden the trade of value-added products while mobilizing the fore-mentioned goals.


President Battulga, for instance, emphasized the availability of opportunities for advanced cooperation in the sectors of infrastructure and agriculture, and expressed an interest to export “eco” foods that were grown in Mongolia.


The dignitaries also shared their opinions on some humanitarian issues, and agreed on the importance of maintaining the principle of mutual respect.


At the end of the meeting, the sides mutually expressed readiness to add new contents into the Comprehensive Partnership. President of Mongolia Khaltmaagiin Battulga wished success to Mr. Wang Yi for the latter’s ongoing visit to Mongolia.
