Deputy PM participates in SCO Council of Heads of Govt summit

On November 30, Deputy Prime Minister Ya.Sodbaatar participated in the virtual summit for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of the Heads of Government and gave remarks.


Deputy PM Ya.Sodbaatar noted the necessity to exchange information about measures aimed at reducing the negative impact of the pandemic and provide assistance to less developed countries in overcoming the difficult challenges created by the current circumstance, and called for the countries to intensify cooperation. During the meeting, he also expressed Mongolia’s interest in actively cooperating with SCO member countries in economy, agriculture, infrastructure, energy, transport passing through the country as well as other sectors and possible projects and programs.


Noting his satisfaction in the progress of works being done to run gas pipeline through the territory of Mongolia from Russia to China, he underlined the significance of projects on establishing highway as well as the central, eastern, and western railway corridors that are part of the Mongolia-Russia-China economic corridor in not only boosting economic growth but also cooperation and mutual trust.


The annual summit was organized virtually by India as the chair of the SCO council for 2020. Vice President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu gave opening remarks at the opening of the summit. The next meeting of the SCO Council of the Heads of Government will be chaired by Kazakhstan in 2021.
