The Second Consultative Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Canada Takes Place in Ottawa

Ulaanbaatar, December 19, 2024 /MONTSAME/. The Second Consultative Meeting between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia and Canada took place in Ottawa, Canada, on December 17, 2024. 


At the Meeting, the two sides discussed opportunities for strengthening the “Comprehensive Partnership” between Mongolia and Canada, expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation, and increasing Canadian investment. Furthermore, the Mongolian side presented the Government’s long- and medium-term development policies, as well as the objectives outlined in the  2024-2028  Action Plan of the Government of Mongolia, and highlighted areas for potential collaboration with Canada. The Mongolian delegation emphasized the importance of facilitating upcoming visits, easing conditions for people-to-people exchanges, and enhancing subnational cooperation. 


The Canadian side highlighted that Canada is putting emphasis on deepening Canada-Mongolia relations and cooperation as part of its Indo-Pacific Strategy, particularly focusing on key areas such as climate change, renewable energy, green transition, digital development, and cultural exchange. The Canadian delegation underscored a 60 percent increase in the assistance provided to Mongolia through Canada’s development cooperation initiatives in recent years. Moreover, the two parties discussed upcoming projects and programs to be implemented in the future, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
