Ulaanbaatar, December 30, 2024 /MONTSAME/. Ulaanbaatar City has issued bonds worth MNT 500 billion, openly offered on the domestic market with "BDSec" and "MICC" as underwriters and "Tavan Bogd Capital," "Golomt Capital," and "TDB" as syndicators. Of the proceeds, MNT 300 billion was allocated to invest in the Buuruljuut Power Plant. As a result, the first 150 MW-capacity Station of the Buuruljuut Power Plant, the project launched in 2011, was commissioned in October 2024. However, on November 17, 2024, a fire broke out in the coal conveyor's C6 section, temporarily delaying the supply of electricity to the Central System. After repairing the damage caused by the fire, the power plant reconnected to the grid and resumed supplying 150 MW of electricity to the Central System.

Mayor of Ulaanbaatar Nyambaatar Khishgee noted, “In 2024, we set a goal to increase Ulaanbaatar's energy capacity by 200 MW, and we achieved this goal within one year. Moreover, we managed to supply energy to the Central System ahead of schedule. This accomplishment ensures there will be no electricity restrictions during peak winter loads. Additionally, the Baganuur 50 MW Battery Storage Power Station began supplying energy to the Central System on December 13, 2024. This 50 MW Battery Storage Power Station operates in an energy-efficient manner, storing surplus electricity generated during night time and distributing it during peak hours.”

To supply energy from the Buuruljuut Power Plant to the Central System, coal was temporarily transported, and boilers were ignited through a provisional scheme. Following the condenser system wash for the air cooling system, necessary measurements, adjustments, and tests for boilers, turbines, generators, and other auxiliary equipment were conducted according to technological protocols and programs.
