Effective and Efficient Technology for Reducing Smog to Be Developed

Ulaanbaatar, April 28. 2025 /MONTSAME/. Under the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of India in Mongolia, Prof. Ashish Garg and Prof. Laltu Chandra from the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India, visited Mongolia on April 20-24, 2025.


The representatives from the Department of Sustainable Energy Engineering of the Indian Institute of Technology met with Head of the Department for Green Technology and Innovation of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change A. Chinbat, and representatives from the National Committee for Air Pollution Reduction, and visited the ger district to analyze coal burning stoves. Moreover, the representatives met with UNDP Resident Representative in Mongolia Matilda Dimovska and Resident Representative of the WHO to Mongolia Dr. Soccoro Escalante.


The Indian professors presented reports on several pollution and environmental issues during a meeting at the National University of Mongolia. Furthermore, they visited the Mongolian Academy of Sciences and presented lectures on how to reduce smog.

 

Prof. Ashish Garg and Prof. Laltu Chandra are planning to formulate an effective and efficient solution to reduce emissions from coal-burning stoves in the ger districts, as soon as they get back to the Republic of India.
