Ulaanbaatar, June 26, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At the initiative by the Embassy of Japan in Mongolia, the Japan Foundation will unveil the Traveling Exhibition titled “I Love Sushi” at the Mongol Art Gallery on June 27, 2025.
Established in 1972, the Japan Foundation aimed at deepening international understanding of Japan through cultural, linguistic, and intellectual exchange. As part of its global cultural outreach, this exhibition offers an engaging look at the most iconic and widely beloved cuisine of Japan.
In 2013, washoku, or traditional Japanese cuisine, was added to the Intangible Cultural Heritage List of UNESCO, a milestone that affirmed the international significance of sushi. Having evolved over centuries, sushi embodies the essence of Japan’s natural environment, time-honored traditions, refined techniques, and culinary artistry.
Through the “I Love Sushi” Exhibition, visitors will gain insights into the origins of sushi and its evolution in harmony with regional landscapes, cultures, and ways of life. The Exhibition also invites contemplation on the place of sushi in today’s global food culture and its relevance in the context of sustainable food systems. A special interactive section will simulate how sushi is traditionally prepared and served in Japan.
Whether you are a dedicated sushi aficionado or a curious newcomer, the Exhibition promises an enriching experience. More than a culinary journey, it offers a window into Japan’s history, etiquette, and aesthetic sensibilities.
The Exhibition will run from June 27 to July 17, 2025.
