Eight Mongolian Boxers Confirmed for the World Championships

Ulaanbaatar, August 13, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia will field a team of five men and five women at the upcoming AIBA World Boxing Championships.
The Championships, taking place in Liverpool, the United Kingdom, on September 4-14, 2025, will mark the first occasion that the men’s and women’s events are held concurrently at the same venue.
Under the guidance of Head Coach J. Enkhtur and Coaches O. Batkhuu and J. Erkin, Mongolia’s lineup so far includes:
Men: A. Battulga (50 kg), Kh. Bilguunsaihan (55 kg), O. Byamba-Erdene (70 kg)
Women: L. Altantsetseg (48 kg), B. Mungunsaran (51 kg), O. Yesugen (54 kg), M. Enkhjargal (57 kg), M. Namuun (60 kg)
A qualifying bout in the men’s 60 kg and 65 kg divisions will be held on August 20, with the winners earning their places on the National Team of Mongolia for the Liverpool Championships.
Mongolian boxers have won a total of 16 medals at senior-level World Championships. Mongolia’s first medal came in 1982, when Honored Athlete of Mongolia R. Otgonbayar earned silver in the 57 kg category. The most recent medals were won by Honored Athlete of Mongolia B. Chinzorig (silver, 63.5 kg) and B. Misheelt (bronze, 67 kg). Legendary figures include Hero of Labor and Honored Athlete of Mongolia P. Serdamba, who claimed gold in Milan 2009 and bronze in Baku 2011, and Honored Athlete of Mongolia U. Munkh-Erdene, a double bronze medalist in Milan 2009 and Almaty 2013.
