Bogd Khaan’s Winter Palace Set for Restoration with Indian Support

Ulaanbaatar, October 8, 2025 /MONTSAME/. At its regular session on October 8, 2025, the Mongolian Cabinet authorized Minister of Culture, Sports, Tourism, and Youth, Undram Chinbat, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Mongolia and the Republic of India on the Protection and Restoration of Bogd Khaan’s Winter Palace.
Under the terms of the Memorandum, the Winter
Palace of Bogd Khaan will undergo international-level restoration aimed at
preserving the original appearance and integrity of this historic and cultural
immovable monument. Efforts will focus on extending the palace’s lifespan,
strengthening its structure, and improving both the external and internal
environments.
Additionally, the plan includes updating
exhibition and curation strategies inside the palace to enhance comfort for visitors,
as well as improving the preservation and protection of tangible cultural
heritage.
