Ulaanbaatar, October 22, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia Damdinnyam Gongor held a press briefing at the State Palace following the Cabinet session on October 22, 2025, stating that the supply of AI-92 petrol remains at the normal consumption level.

The Minister noted that on regular days, Mongolia consumes between 950 and 1,200 tons of fuel. “Currently, even though 1,800 tons are being supplied daily, queues have not yet subsided,” he said. “It should be emphasized that over 90 percent of Mongolia’s fuel supply comes from Russia. However, due to the current situation in that country, there have been reports of domestic fuel shortages.”

According to Minister Damdinnyam, the Government of Russia has imposed restrictions on AI-92 gasoline exports until the end of the year. “Nevertheless, Mongolia has an intergovernmental agreement with Russia to purchase fuel at a preferential rate. In October, we will receive 58,000 tons of AI-92 petrol from Rosneft, and we are in talks to secure further supplies from Gazprom and China,” he added.

The Minister also mentioned that the Angarsk Oil Refinery, Mongolia’s main supplier, has completed its annual maintenance but has not yet fully stabilized operations. “Prime Minister, Deputy Prime Minister, and I are addressing this issue with Russian counterparts through the appropriate channels.”

“Once again, the supply of AI-92 petrol is at the normal consumption level. Therefore, I urge citizens not to panic and to purchase fuel according to their regular needs,” Minister Damdinnyam emphasized.
