Mongolian Juniors Secure Two World Titles at World Youth Draughts Championship

Ulaanbaatar, October 30, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The World Youth Draughts Championship is taking place in Antalya, Türkiye, from October 24 to November 1, 2025. Representing Mongolia, 17 young athletes are competing in various age divisions, and two have clinched gold medals with one round remaining.

 

In the boys’ 9-10 age category (Hopes Boys Open B10), Master of Sports Arvin-Erdene Erdenetsogt from “Ireedui” Mongolian Draughts Academy, ranked 21st by the World Draughts Federation, captured his first-ever world title.

 

In the girls’ 9-10 age category (Hopes Girls G10), Master of Sports Ermuunzaya Bayanmunkh from “Daam Messi” club of Arkhangai aimag, ranked 16th globally, also secured the world title.


The victory of Ermuunzaya marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first Mongolian draughts player to win two world titles in the main (standard) category. In addition, she has triumphed in both blitz and rapid formats, winning two gold medals in blitz and one in rapid.

 

The final medal standings will be confirmed after the last round of the standard event on October 30, 2025.


Mongolia has been participating in the World Youth and Junior Draughts Championship since 1991, accumulating an impressive 17 gold, 15 silver, and 16 bronze medals in the 100-square draughts standard format. The Mongolian team has also ranked first overall in the past three editions of the championship.
