Teachers’ Strike Ends as Pay Agreement Reached

Ulaanbaatar, November 4, 2025 /MONTSAME/. The teachers’ strike has been called off following a supplementary agreement reached between the Federation of Mongolian Education and Science Unions (FMESU) and the Ministry of Education, under which teachers’ monthly salaries will be increased to MNT 2.8 million next year.
The additional negotiations took place on October 30-31 and were finalized on November 3, 2025. According to the President of the FMESU, Tsogtgerel Zambal, around 40,000 employees from 720 educational institutions participated in the strike.
The parties also agreed to discuss raising the base salary to MNT 3.5 million during deliberations on the 2027 state budget proposal.
