Agency for disabled people to be established

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Ministry of Labor and Social Protection is to change the structure and organization of its Restoration, Training and Production Center and establish an agency in charge of the issues of persons with disabilities (PWD).
Mongolia joined the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the Optional Protocol in 2008, adopting the Law on Rights of PWD based on Convention’s concept in 2016. Article 40 of the Law provides for the establishment of a State administrative organization in charge of PWD related issues to work on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, relevant laws and regulations, ensure inter-sectoral correspondence and increase participation of PWD.
Therefore, Minister of Labor and Social Protection S.Chinzorig submitted the draft Parliament resolution on ‘Amendment to the Annex of the Resolution’ to Parliament Speaker M.Enkhbold on May 24. The draft resolution includes amendments to the ’General Layout of structure of State Administrative Organizations’ approved by the State Great Khural Resolution No.12 of July 21, 2016 to establish the General Authority for PWD, Government Implementing Agency, within the jurisdiction of the Minister of Labor and Social Protection.
The agency will not require additional human resource in 2018 as the specialists of aimag and district Labor and Welfare services in charge of issues of PWD will be responsible for the agency’s operations.
