City of Wind Wins Best Director Award at the Pingyao International in China

Ulaanbaatar, November 20, 2023 /MONTSAME/. In the Roberto Rossellini Awards, Best Director was presented to Mongolian filmmaker Lkhagvadulam Purev-Ochir for “Ser Ser Salkhi” [City of Wind] at China’s Pingyao International Film Festival on October 11-18, 2023.

 

Mongolian film, City of Wind is the double winner of the “Young Jury Best Film” and “New Talent Award” at the Hong Kong Asian Film Festival 2023. The Young Jury panel stated that the film is "Compelling and realistic", the mise-en-scene and cinematography vividly portray the cultural characteristics of Mongolia as well as its modernization.

 

Since its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival in the Orizzonti Competition section, “City of Wind” has been successfully presented in approximately 20 film festivals in 12 countries. The film team emphasized that they plan to participate in other festivals in the future.

 

Newcomer Tergel Bold-Erdene won the Orizzonti Award for Best Actor at the 80th Venice International Film Festival for his role as a teenage shaman in the “City of Wind.”
