Bayankhongor /MONTSAME/ A lamb of argali (wild sheep) is growing up in a herder’s campsite in Bayantsagaan soum of Bayankhongor aimag.
In the beginning of this April, a son of herder Ts.Erdenebayar noticed that a lamb of argali came together with his young animals when he was herding them back home. Since that day, the family is raising the lamb, bottle feeding with milk.
“We will release the lamb to its flock when it starts eating grass. The area is rich in argali and yangir (Siberian Ibex). Local people talk about a mountain goat kid grew up in a herder’s camp in 1990s,” said S.Namjimaa, environmental inspector of Bayantsagaan soum.

Bayantsagaan soum locates 247 km from aimag center and 960 km from Ulaanbaatar city and endangered or threatened species such as argali, yangir, snow leopard and black tailed gazelle are abundant on the soum territory.
