Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. Minister of Environment and Tourism B.Bat-Erdene met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Mongolia I.K.Azizov today, February 18.

During the meeting, Minister B.Bat-Erdene asked support for organizing a meeting of the Mongolia-Russia joint intergovernmental commission on environmental protection in the first quarter of 2022 as stated in the action plan to be implemented following the visit of the Mongolian President to Russia in December 2021.

The minister also said, “The 6th meeting of the joint commission on the Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental agreement on protection of forest from wildfire was postponed due to the pandemic. An invitation for the 6th meeting will be sent to the Russian side again. In addition to fire prevention issues, it is planned to discuss issues on increasing the seed fund and establishing a tree nursery in connection with ‘One billion trees’ nationwide campaign.”

As Mongolia has fully opened its borders to international travel, it is working to organize activities to intensify tourism cooperation. In this context, the Minister stressed the importance of Russian Ambassador’s support to jointly organize measures such as opening flights between border cities of the two countries, conducting mutual promotional activities and events and establishing information centers.
