Environment Minister meets Russian Ambassador

B.Bat-Erdene met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian
Federation to Mongolia I.K.Azizov today, February 18.
During the meeting, Minister B.Bat-Erdene asked support for
organizing a meeting of the Mongolia-Russia joint intergovernmental commission
on environmental protection in the first quarter of 2022 as stated in the
action plan to be implemented following the visit of the Mongolian President to
Russia in December 2021.
The minister also said, “The 6th meeting of the joint
commission on the Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental agreement on protection of
forest from wildfire was postponed due to the pandemic. An invitation for the 6th
meeting will be sent to the Russian side again. In addition to fire prevention
issues, it is planned to discuss issues on increasing the seed fund and establishing
a tree nursery in connection with ‘One billion trees’ nationwide campaign.”
As Mongolia has fully opened its borders to international
travel, it is working to organize activities to intensify tourism cooperation. In
this context, the Minister stressed the importance of Russian Ambassador’s
support to jointly organize measures such as opening flights between border
cities of the two countries, conducting mutual promotional activities and events
and establishing information centers.
