Mongolian President and UN Secretary-General exchange greetings

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Mongolia's nuclear-weapon-free status, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, sent greetings to Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa.
Thanking Mongolia for its persistent work in commitment to non-proliferation and disarmament, the UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, expressed his willingness to continue developing the established cooperation to take the next step towards the common goal of a nuclear weapons-free world.
In return, the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, sent greetings to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on behalf of the people of Mongolia and himself, thanking the United Nations for its consistent support in strengthening Mongolia's international security and nuclear-free status in the past. He also reaffirmed that Mongolia has the aspiration to actively contribute to the efforts of the international community for the elimination of nuclear weapons and non-proliferation in the world.
Khurelsukh Ukhnaa, the President of Mongolia, expressed his belief that Mongolia's declaration of a “Nuclear-weapon-free zone” has made a significant contribution to the elimination of nuclear weapons, non-proliferation, building trust in the region, and thus strengthening international peace and stability.
Previously, the UN
Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, visited Mongolia from August 8-11 at the
invitation of the President of Mongolia and commended Mongolia for its efforts
put for non-proliferation and disarmament. During his visit, Mr. Guterres
highlighted that Mongolia is a valued partner of the UN, “a symbol of peace”
and an increasingly important contributor to the work of the UN.
