Today is Global Recycling day
SocietyUlaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. The Delegation of European Union to
Mongolia announces on the approval of the Procedure
on Construction Demolition Waste (CDW) management under the European Union-funded
project ‘Improving resource-efficiency and cleaner production in the Mongolian
construction sector through materials recovery.’ Approved by the Ministry of
Construction and Urban Development, this new procedure will bring solutions to
the issues of illegal dumping of construction demolition waste and contribute to
the implementation of revised ‘Law on Waste’ (2017).
Construction and building materials waste account for at
least half of the solid waste that is generated every year worldwide. Over 90
percent of construction waste can be recycled and reused. Since there is a lack
of experience and know-how on recycling construction and demolition waste in
Mongolia, Caritas Czech Republic in Mongolia has been implementing a pilot
project to promote sustainable production and consumption in the construction
sector through supporting Small and Medium Enterprises to switch to more
resource-efficient practices under ‘Improving Resource-Efficiency and Cleaner
Production in the Mongolian Construction Sector Through Materials Recovery’
project since 2016.
