President meets SCO Secretary General

Ulaanbaatar/MONTSAME/. During his participation in the
Meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States in Samarkand, the Republic
of Uzbekistan, President of Mongolia U.Khurelsukh met with Secretary General of
the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming.
At the meeting, President U.Khurelsukh said that as part of
its multi-pillar foreign policy, since Mongolia became an observer country of
the SCO in 2004, Mongolia regularly participates in meetings and events of the
heads of state and government of SCO member countries, aiming to develop
cooperation in an optimal way.
The president expressed Mongolia’s interest in developing
cooperation with the SCO as an observer country, especially in the
implementation of major regional infrastructure and economic projects and
programs.
He also introduced that using its advantage of geographical location
connecting Asia and Europe, Mongolia aims to become a ‘Transit Mongolia’, a hub
of trade, transport and logistics networks, freight traffic and services.
