Amazing Success of Mongolian Ice Climbing AthletesSports
Ulaanbaatar, January 16 /MONTSAME/. The Ice Climbing World Cup Series and Asian Championship, organized annually by the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA), was held in Cheongseong, the Republic of Korea on January 14-15.
Mongolian male and female athletes participated in the competition for the first time as a full team. In the ice climbing speed category of the competition on January 15, IM N.Kherlen ("Sutain Bor" club) won the BRONZE medal of the World Championship. He also won an Asian SILVER medal. In addition, the organizers of the competition decided to hand over a special invitation or Wildcard to N. Kherlen. This invitation gives the athlete the right to directly participate in the next World Cup outside the country's quota. The best athletes from Mongolia, the UK, the USA, Iran, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Finland, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland competed in this competition.
