Portraits of Great Khaans of the Mongol Empire on Display

Ulaanbaatar, February 24, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Portraits and busts of Great Chinggis Khaan, Ogedei Khaan, and Khubilai Khaan are on display at the Exhibition Hall of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia, organized by “Ikh Khaan” Art Club.
The busts and portrait paintings of the Great Khaans are crafted based on the historical research of the Great Mongol Empire, including original portraits of Chinggis Khaan, Ogedei Khaan, and Khubilai Khaan, which were painted by the Mongol court painter Khorikhasun during the Yuan dynasty and are now preserved in the National Palace Museum of Taipei, Taiwan, and the painting “Khubilai Khaan Hunting” by court painter of Yuan dynasty Liu Guandao as well as motivated by historical artworks “Chinggis Khaan” and “Old Musician” by People’s Artist of Mongolia, Laureate of the State Premium Yadamsuren Urjin.
The Union of Mongolian Artists Award recipient, artist T. Odon, Member of the Union of Mongolian Artists and Painter A. Uuganbayar, and Sculptor J. Tumenchuluun, have immortalized the khaans through sculpture and painting.
The Exhibition showcased over 20 artworks, offering an opportunity to sense how the personas and character traits of the khaans are expressed through artistic creations. The Exhibition will be displayed for two months.
