Judokas win open tournament in Oberwart
SportsUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Our men’s team for judo has taken the first place in the European men’s open tournament which was held last weekend in Oberwart of Austria.
An athlete from Erdenet-based “Khangarid” sports club D.Altansukh IMS has grabbed a gold medal in the under 66kg weight category contest. He had a bye in the first round, then defeated rivals from the Great Britain, Kazakhstan, Serbia and France. In the finals, he beat an Egyptian Mohamed Abdelmaugaud.
In the -81kg contest, two Mongolians--O.Ugaanbaatar and N.Dagvasuren--fought in the finals, and the gold medal went to Uuganbaatar who beat his opponents from France, China, Russia and Iran in the preliminary and semi-final rounds.
Having claimed two gold and one silver medals, the Mongolian team has been followed by Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Austria and Hungary that won one gold medal each.
