CPI increases in February

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In February of this year, the national consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.7% against the previous month, by 1.2% from beginning of the year, and by 2.0% against the previous year.

The 2.0 percent increase happened due to 23.1% in education, 4.7% in clothing, footwear and cloth, 4.5% in furnishings, household equipment increases, while the 1.2%--due to a soar of 5.5% in foods, drinks and water. The 3.4% increase in the same products also caused an increase of 0.7% in CPI of previous month.

In February of 2016, the CPI declined 0.1-0.7% in Bayan-Olgii, Gobi-Altai, Uvs, Bulgan, Zavkhan, Ovorkhngai, Khovsgol and Gobisumber aimags against January 2016, whereas it increased by 0.1-2.0% in other aimags.

As of the capital city, the CPI increased by 0.8% in February against the previous month, by 1.2% against late of 2015, and by 1.6% against the same period of the previous year.

Prices of 11.3% of 329 kinds of products and services in consumer basket increased this February; 3.3% of the products and services--declined, and 85.4% of the goods and services were stable.
