Hay and Forage Production Surges in 2025 Harvest Season

Ulaanbaatar, October 14, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia has reported strong agricultural output as of September 2025, with a total of 120.2 thousand tons of grain, 60.6 thousand tonnes of potatoes, 99.8 thousand tonnes of vegetables, and 43.0 thousand tonnes of fodder nationwide.


In addition, 595.8 thousand tonnes of hay and 9.3 tonnes of forage have been prepared. Regional contributions to Mongolia’s 2025 Harvest:

  • Khuvsgul, Orkhon, Bulgan, Tuv, and Selenge aimags contributed between 3.9% and 48.5% of the total grain harvest.
  • Bayan-Ulgii, Uvurkhangai, Khovd, Selenge, and Tuv aimags accounted for 4% to 38% of the total potato yield.
  • Orkhon, Tuv, Khovd, Darkhan-Uul, and Selenge aimags produced between 2.9% and 33.6% of the country’s vegetables.
  • Zavkhan, Bulgan, Uvurkhangai, Tuv, and Khentii aimags were responsible for 8% to 26.1% of the forage crop output.

Compared to 2024, hay production increased by 193.1 thousand tons, while forage preparation rose by 1.3 thousand tons.
