Seminar on tourism planning takes place
EconomyUlaanbaatar /MONTSAME/. With the support of Ministry of Environment and Tourism and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the seminar ‘Planning in tourism’ kicked off at the Freshwater Resources and Nature Conservation center yesterday.
The seminar, led by international advisor Mr. Stuart Gilchrist is giving information on topics, such as tourism value chain, destination management, tourism product development and urban tourism.
Representatives of about 80 private tourism companies and over 30 public servants of the Agencies for Environment and Tourism in 21 aimags as well as the Ulaanbaatar City Tourism Department are attending the seminar.
As the Ministry of Environment and Tourism is taking measures in enhancing the skills of human resource, improving the quality of service as well as revising the policy on the sector in the frameworks of diversifying the economy through developing the sector, the officials highlighted the importance of organizing the seminar to achieve the objectives.
Since becoming a member of the UNWTO in 1990, Mongolia has worked in cooperation with the organization in enhancing the infrastructure of the tourism sector by working towards improving skills of human resource and receiving support in drafting a policy on tourism. The seminar is to wrap up today.
