Member States of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways Agree on Freight Volume for 2024

During the consultive meeting, the member
countries of the 5th section within the 3rd Commission of the Organization for
Cooperation of Railways reached an agreement on foreign trade cargo volume to
be transported via the railways for the year 2024 and international freight volume related to Mongolia has been set as follows:
Transit freight:
-From China to Russia via Mongolia 1543-thousand-ton cargo.
-From Russia to China via Mongolia 3755thousand ton cargo
Import:
-From Russia to Mongolia 2935 thousand ton
-From China to Mongolia 1457 thousand ton
Export:
-From Mongolia to Russia 300 thousand ton
-From Mongolia to China 11700-thousand-ton cargo agreed to
be transported
“Ulaanbaatar railway” joint venture will transport 21.690-thousand-ton freight this year, which is 1.5 million tons more than in the previous year.
Online consultative meeting of the Member States of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways started on February 26, 2024, and discussed the freight cargo for 2024 and consulted on the development of its implementation measures.
Representatives from Mongolia, the Russian Federation, Afghanistan, Belarus, Vietnam, The Islamic Republic of Iran, Kazakhstan, China, the People's Democratic Republic of Korea, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and the Republic of Korea participated in the meeting. Specifically, the volume of export, import, and transit freight in 2024 is being discussed in each type of freight, and the relevant railway organizations reached a mutual agreement and included it in the protocol to ensure its implementation.
