Foreign Minister of Mongolia Meets ASEAN Secretary-General

Ulaanbaatar, May 23, 2025 /MONTSAME/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh met with Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn on May 22, 2025.
Foreign Minister Battsetseg noted that the relations between Mongolia and ASEAN have continuously expanded since Mongolia joined the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation of ASEAN in 2005, with this year, 2025, marking the 20th anniversary of the occasion. The Foreign Minister of Mongolia reaffirmed Mongolia’s aspiration to become a dialogue partner of ASEAN and participate in the upcoming East Asia Summit, emphasizing that Mongolia places great importance on deepening relations with ASEAN and expanding institutional forms of cooperation.
Secretary General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn stated that ASEAN greatly values its relations with Mongolia and that the ASEAN Secretariat is ready to implement joint research and training programs for Mongolia to foster mutually beneficial cooperation.
Mongolia aims at boosting its participation in and contribution to areas including climate change, food security, digital transformation, disaster-risk management, regional connectivity, empowerment of local women leaders, and support for environmental education with ASEAN to bolster regional peace, sustainability, and mutual development.
